Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 processor confirmed as Clover Trail+ LTE abilities

Samsung delivered news of two new Galaxy Tab 3 devices, each of them bringing with them the next generation of GALAXY S 4 aesthetics and wireless abilities. The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 was delivered with a note that it’d be bringing a dual-core Intel processor inside, but only in a very general way – certainly not what Android addicts were looking for in their detail journals. Today though, Intel has come to the rescue with specifics.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 will be working with an Intel Atom Z2560 processor, this part of the Clover Trail+ family. This processor will be clocked at 1.6Ghz and will be rolling out under Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s newest TouchWiz UX for tablets on top.

In addition to the Clover Trail+ nature of the machine’s innards, Intel let it be known that this machine will come with two different iterations: Intel’s XMM 6262 3G modem solution or Intel’s XMM 7160 with 4G LTE. This means that, in addition to being offered as a wi-fi-only tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3 will likely be offered on more than one US-based mobile carrier with mobile data under the hood.

This 10.1-inch tablet is set to be released by the end of the month worldwide, while stateside releases have not yet been specified. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 family also works with a 7-inch and an 8-inch tablet, both of these working with Samsung-made Exynos processors. Other than modem integration for 3G and 4G LTE, it’s not immediately apparent why the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 is the only working with Intel.

- A fix for an issue that may prevent changes to files made over NFS from displaying 
- Resolves an issue saving files to an Xsan volume from certain applications 
- Improves Active Directory log-in performance, especially for cached accounts or when using a .local domain 
- Improves OpenDirectory data replication 
- Improves 802.1X compatibility with ActiveDirectory networks 
- Improves compatibility when using mobile accounts

The update also includes Safari 6.0.5, which improves stability for websites with chat features and games. 

After eight different beta builds, Apple closed its 10.8.4 Beta Testing Program last Friday. During the beta, Apple had asked users to focus on Wi-Fi, Graphics Drivers, and Safari.

BMW M Power for iOS

While pro race drivers are used to telemetry-based feedback, us civilians don't have such an easy solution for our track days. BMW wants to take the guesswork out of those amateur racing sessions by launching its M Power app for iOS. The tool pairs an iPhone with a BMW Connected car to collect not just lap times, but the moment-by-moment input -- if you're braking too late at turn three, you'll know. Drivers can compare their results, and it's possible to build custom tracks for autocross weekends. Bose Reveals SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker And QuietComfort 20 In-Ear Headphones With “Aware Mode”

Today Bose is announcing two new products to its lineup, with the introduction of the SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker and the QuietComfort 20 In-Ear headphones.

Both offer the same high-quality audio Bose prides itself on, and the company claims that the in-ear headphones in particular required more patents than any headphone in history.

SOUNDLINK MINI BLUETOOTH SPEAKER

The idea here is that Bose is finally ready to compete in the ultra-portable Bluetooth speaker space. The company already offers larger Bluetooth-connected speaker systems, but the Mini is looking to compete with the Jambox and other counterparts to meet consumers’ increasingly on-the-go lifestyles.

The SoundLink Mini is small enough to fit across the palm of your hand at just over seven inches wide, and about two inches long and thick. It weighs 1.5 lbs and is slightly smaller than the Jawbone Jambox. The SoundLink Mini has been engineered specifically to offer all-around sound. Bose added new passive radiators that are spaced apart, letting them move more air and create better low notes.

They also built custom transducers to cover the mids and highs, with speaker grills for both the front and back of the device. It runs Bluetooth A2DP and can remember up to six devices once they’ve been paired. Plus, the SoundLink Mini offers wireless charging via the included charging pad, and Bose expects it to last seven hours on a single charge.

Bose is selling a handful of accessories with this speaker, including blue, orange and green covers and a travel bag. It’s available for pre-order now for $199, with availability starting on July 11.

QUIETCOMFORT 20 IN-EAR HEADPHONES

The Bose QuietComfort 20 headphones are meant to offer the same security, comfort, and noise-canceling awesomeness as their over-ear counterparts, but they go so much further than that.

The dual-microphone system detects volume levels inside the headphone, as well as approaching noises, to ensure that you can ignore the outside world and dive into the music. We tested this out in the presentation, as Bose pumped 85 decibels of New York City streets and subways into the room where we were using the QuietComfort 20 headphones. It worked, to say the least, as none of us could hear a thing, even when we could feel the noise inside the room under our feet.

The headphones also do a little extra noise-canceling thanks to a new ear insert, what Bose is calling StayHear+ technology. It uses an extra seal in the ear to keep outside noises where they belong, and adds extra stability with a little fin that hooks under the ridge of your ear.

But this is the best part: The new QuietComfort in-ears from Bose offer a new listening mode called “Aware Mode.” A small white button on the Y-remote of the headphones will switch the listening experience to a totally noise-canceled environment to one where Bose pushes only the lower frequencies of your music so you’re still able to have a conversation, listen to a subway announcement or any of your other surroundings.

The QuietComfort 20 headphones come with a lithium ion battery station and are said to offer 16 hours of continuous use before the owner will no longer be able to enjoy noise-canceling technology. The new headphones aren’t available until “later this summer” and will retail for $299.

HTC One X Sense 5 Update On Track

HTC One S Sense 5 update appears on track, the HTC One X and HTC One X+ Sense 5 updates appear to be track, thanks to remarks made by HTC Russia head, Andrey Kormiltsev.

Earlier today, we saw Kormiltsev take to Twitter to discuss several different HTC updates. The first, the HTC One Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update which he claims is on track for an arrival in the middle of June, no specific date given. He also claims that technical issues could force HTC to cancel the promised HTC One S Sense 5 update.

The HTC One X Sense 5 update seems to be on track.

Owners of the HTC One X, another aging device, need not worry as it appears, at least according to Kormiltsev, that the HTC One X and HTC One X+ Sense 5 updates are in the works. 

outside of HTC’s first confirmation, that we’ve seen a sign of Sense 5 for the One X and the One X+. For owners of these devices, any news is good news and for the head of HTC Russia to say that the company is “at work,” is a sign that things are moving along smoothly.

His statements align with unofficial leaks that suggest that both devices are in line for upgrades to not only Sense 5 but Android 4.2 as well. And while HTC refuses to disclose specifics, summer has been rumored as a possible time frame for the HTC One X Sense 5 update.

Whether HTC hits that unofficial window remains to be seen but with summer just beginning, it has a lot of time between now and the end of the season.

Sense 5 is HTC’s latest user interface which as of right now, is only available on the HTC One. The software is laid over Android and comes with two big time features including HTC Zoe and HTC BlinkFeed, both of which are thought to be coming to the HTC One X with its Sense 5 update.

Xbox One yearning for exclusive content as Microsoft goes to Hollywood

If Microsoft’s unveil event for the Xbox One last month didn’t give you the clue that the company is focused on non-game entertainment for their new console, then maybe this will make you understand. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer reportedly went to Hollywood in order to get studios excited about the Xbox One, with the goal of getting exclusive content on the new console.

Microsoft wants the Xbox One to be more than just a device that can stream Netflix. Instead, it seems the company wants its own exclusive content on the console in the form of movies, TV shows, and such, although specifics aren’t known at this point. It could be something to similar to NFL’s partnership with the Xbox One, only in movie and TV form.

Since we supposedly won’t hear anything about TV at Microsoft’s E3 conference, we’re wondering how the company will announce any exclusive content that it has lined up. E3 must be the place to win back gamers after they essentially butted them out during the initial reveal event, so Microsoft has to show that they’ll keep their core values with the Xbox.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Microsoft talked with CBS and WME about the Xbox One and exclusive content, but no details have surfaced from those meetings at this point. It’s clear that Microsoft doesn’t just want to offer apps that stream content that anyone can get. Microsoft wants content that only Xbox One users can watch.

However, Microsoft said that they’re spending a cool $1 billion on exclusive game titles for the Xbox One, which should make most gamers happy, but will Microsoft do enough to just get by in order to focus more on non-gaming content? Or will they split their time evenly between the two?

Chrysler rejects NHTSA recall proposal for 2.7 million Jeeps

Pull up a chair, folks, because it’s about to get good. After receiving a letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommending that Chrysler recall some 2.7 million Jeep models, the car maker has come forward to say that they do “not agree with NHTSA’s conclusions,” noting that “the subject vehicles are safe and are not defective.”

The NHTSA issued a voluntary recall to Chrysler involving 1993-2004 model year Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2002-2007 Jeep Libertys. The NHTSA believes that the fuel tanks on these vehicles is defective and could lead to a fuel leak. This could possibly result when the vehicle is involved in a rear-impact collision.

However, Chrysler thinks that the “NHTSA’s initial conclusions are based on an incomplete analysis of the underlying data,” a.k.a. the NHTSA is wrong. The company says that “these vehicles met and exceeded all applicable requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards…pertaining to fuel-system integrity.”

Chrysler also says that accidents that were said to have been caused by the supposed defect weren’t caused by anything other than normal operation of the vehicles. The company’s analysis showed that reports of accidents occurred “less than once for every million years of vehicle operation. This rate is similar to comparable vehicles produced and sold during the time in question.”

In this case, Chrysler says that changing the design of the fuel tank wouldn’t matter, as many of the accidents reported were due to high-speed, high collision incidents, including a semi truck traveling 65 mph and hitting a stationary Grand Cherokee, which eventually caught on fire. Chrysler says that they’re more than willing to keep working with the NHTSA to come to an agreement, but if nothing is agreed upon, the NHTSA could take legal action to force a recall.
