How to Change the World with Your Blog: 3 Ideas

Bloggers are infinitely creative when it comes to self-promotion, but it may not be so obvious how we can help serve the greater good. Here are 3 ways you can encourage your readers to contribute today to improve our society:
1. Write a post about an issue and how to help
If your readers are anything like myself, they will appreciate you keeping them informed about important concerns in their field and how they can help. Better yet, you will increase your reputation in your niche by using your influence to bring about positive change through your readers’ actions.
2. Interview a director from a charity related to your blog
While it could seem unlikely that an organization could operate in your niche without a profit motive, many enterprising individuals have found ways to turn their interests into assistance. Volunteers at Child’s Play perform week-long gaming marathons to raise money for underprivileged children. Find someone doing something interesting and bring them to your reader’s attention.
3. Host a fundraiser on your blog
What better way to build a community around your blog than to join together in support of a cause. Whether it’s endowing a scholarship or building a coy pond, your readers will feel a sense of ownership through a contribution to something long-lasting.
While these ideas will no doubt increase you blog’s positive influence in the world, it need not be without benefit to you. By showing your support for a cause they believe in, your readers will find it in their best interest to spread the word and increase your site’s traffic. The publicity for your event could do more for your blog than dozens of banner swaps or link exchanges would.

How To Avoid Online Scams

I’m sure you already know this, but for those of you who think that the world is all rainbows and sunshine – you’re wrong. We live in an age of hopes and promises, where people dream about making billions of dollars, having many girls and affording the luxuries of life. Thankfully, we have the Internet that gives us an opportunity to get closer to our dreams.
But where there is hope, there is always deceit. There are people out there who make money by scamming people, websites, businesses; in one word – everyone. In this article we will discuss some of the scams that are happening right now and how to avoid them:

1. Fake Escrow Services

When buying or selling something online (e.g., a website, an eBay product), scammers might try to convince you to use fraudulent escrow services. I’m not sure how people fall for that, but it happens. Once you send the money you’ll never heard from the person or from the service again.
The only way to prevent you losing money – use escrow services that actually have a good reputation (like Escrow.com). If the other party is still nagging you about using their services, just tell them “no” and report them (unless, of course, this service is legit).

2. Domain Names with Fake PageRank

People try to sell you domains with false Google PageRank. This is a well-known scam that makes people lose money, but if you haven’t purchased many domain names in the past you might not have heard about it. What happens is, people have a domain A with high PageRank and redirect it to a domain B with PR 0. As they do that Google will match the PageRanks, so that when someone checks the PR of B it will show the same number as the PR of A. After that the scammer will sell the domain B claiming it has a high PR, when in reality it doesn’t.
How to avoid this scam: Well, if you search for domain B in the Google search, you should see this domain on the first position; if it’s not the case – you are dealing with a redirect.

3. Overhyped Products

People sell you overhyped products. If you are a newbie internet marketer you tend to buy everything that promises you mountains of gold. The sad truth is – most products are an overhyped, rehashed scam. Here is how you check whether a product is solid or not:
a) Never ever type in Google “Product name + scam” or “Product name + review.” Internet marketers are optimizing their websites for exactly these keywords. They twist this search phrase into “Product name is maybe a scam!! Do not buy it until you’ve read my review;” and when you start reading their review, you will see affiliate links all over the place.
b) A good strategy is to search for “Author’s name + review,” “Author’s name + scam.” You will find much better and relevant results.
c) But the best strategy is to seek out forums that are in the same niche as the product and ask people whether it is a scam or not. Chances are that it has already been reviewed.

4. Inflated Prices

4. People will try to sell you stuff for inflated prices. I’ve actually seen people try to sell PR3 domains for $70 (they had only a few backlinks and weren’t really catchy). Here is how to avoid buying overhyped products:
As in the previous example, it would be a good idea to ask folks on forums (Warrior Forum is the best place for such questions).

5. Stuff That Breaks Rules or The Law

If a person tries to involve you into breaking any kind of rule or law – run as fast as you can! Here is a good example of that:
Not a while back, Flippa had (and maybe still have) a huge loophole: you could actually create several accounts and bid on your own actions, therefore encouraging other people to participate. Well, I know someone (no names) who asked his friend to bid on his auctions, and they earned a lot of money. But one day Flippa caught on their scam and banned them. Now they both regret losing a very precious income stream.

6. Scam Info Products

If you are on a sales page and read or hear the following things:
  • I have a secret that guru’s don’t want you to know…
  • Money machine stolen from big gurus…
  • Push button money system…
  • Bullet proof system that is guaranteed to work…
Run away from this website faster than the roadrunner from the coyote.

7. Pay for Traffic Services

Stay away from offers that promise to bring you 1000, 2000 and 10000 visitors in a short amount of time. People are actually naïve enough to believe that, because it’s easier to pay $5-$20 than to use their brains. I mean, it’s obvious how this system works:
a) Traffic exchanging programs. This just a BS network where some random people have to look at your website to get some credits. As you may imagine, these visitors convert worse than the ones from Stumbleupon (which speaks volume)
b) They use software like Scrapeboard with installed proxies. This software is usually used to spam blogs for backlinks, but it can also be used to increase the traffic number.

8. Fake Testimonials and Screenshots

Never believe testimonials and Clickbank screenshots. It’s easy to buy these testimonials on Fiverr for $5. Even video testimonials are easily available these days!
But what’s most scary is that you can create your own Clickbank screenshots. Here is a video of how a dude did it in Photoshop:
There are a lot of ways how people can scam you out of your money. The methods described here are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s only up to you to stay smart and vigilante. If you are unsure whether you are being scammed, visit this website:http://scam.com/
This forum has a lot of information and helpful members that can answer your questions. My only advice would be: use your common sense and do not trust anyone, unless you’ve verified their credentials.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Review

Pros
    • Incredibly Thin Form Factor
    • Long Battery Life
    • High Quality Touchpad

Cons
    • Expensive
    • No Touch-Display

Build and Design
It's hard to talk about the Samsung ATIV Book 9 and not mention its eye-catching design. With a meticulous array of slants and curves the Samsung Series 9 is a thing of beauty. Despite being one of the more attractive notebooks on the market the Samsung Series 9 manages to never feel over the top. Most likely that's due to the machine's mineral ash black aluminum chassis. The simplistic color provides a wonderful counterbalance to the machine's sleek design to create a clean business-friendly aesthetic.
Measuring in at 12.35" x 8.6" x 0.51" and weighing in at 2.56 lbs. the Samsung Series 9 is almost weightless. While transporting the device to and from work in addition to my normal work-notebook, I barely noticed the added weight of the device. Additionally, the notebook feels even lighter than its listed weight thanks to the ergonomic design of the chassis. The inward slants along the bottom chassis form perfectly to your hand, allowing the device to be comfortably held with just one hand. Admittedly the device is not as portable as most tablets, but the Samsung Series 9 is still extremely portable and its performance capabilities far outweigh that of the average tablet.
In spite of its petite form factor the Samsung ATIV Book 9 offers solid durability. The chassis barely flexed at all, even when substantial pressure was applied. The display fared just as well, only giving slightly to pressure with no noticeable rippling occurring on screen. I'd still be hesitant to believe that the Samsung Series 9 could survive serious impact or a fall, but the device can easily hold up to the normal wear and tear of travel.
Its miniscule form factor and durable build quality make the Samsung ATIV Book 9 the ideal portable notebook.

Ports and Features
The Samsung Series 9 is actually extremely clever about its port layout, offering a strong level of connectivity despite its limited surface area. The notebook manages to do this with the use of multiple dongles. Unfortunately doing so adds an additional burden on the consumer, especially since some of the dongles do not come with device. However, it's better than the alternative, which is no connectivity at all.
The left side of device offers a power jack, chargeable USB 3.0 port, Micro HDMI port, and a LAN Dongle (which comes with the device). The Right side offers a 3-in-1 Multi Card Slot, Int. Mic, VGA Dongle (does not come with the device),  a Headphone/Mic Combo jack, and a USB 2.0 port.
The offering is still rather slim compared to some devices; but considering that the Samsung Series 9 is only working with a few inches on both sides of the device, it manages to fit in a considerable amount within that tight space. It's unfortunate that Samsung didn't decide to include the VGA dongle given the steep price of the device.

HP EliteBook Folio 9470m review

hp-elitebook-folio-main

  • Solid, smart-looking chassis
  • Excellent keyboard and touchpad
  • Good battery life
  • Removable battery and second battery (slice) option
  • Windows 7 downgrade option
  • Most models have a low-resolution screen
  • No touchscreen option for Windows 8 fans
  • Expensive

The HP EliteBook Folio 9470m is technically an ultrabook, but you could be forgiven for neither noticing nor caring. Its 14-inch screen makes it large enough for serious working, its build quality is solid and you can specify either Windows 7 or 8. There's even a legacy VGA port if you need to hook it up to an ageing monitor or projector.
Starting at £1,133 (ex VAT), the HP EliteBook Folio 9470m can't be described as "affordable". But does it justify the price tag?
Design
We don't often describe business notebooks as good looking, but that's precisely what we say in this case. Even before you open it, HP's EliteBook Folio 9470m looks good. Its mercury-silver shell is a shade different from the norm, and HP's branding on the lid is gratifyingly subtle.
Features
With 16 configurations of the EliteBook Folio 9470m available on HP's (UK) website, there's plenty of choice. At the entry level you get a 1.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-3437U processor with integrated (HD Graphics 4000) graphics. The GPU remains unchanged throughout the range, but you can boost the processor to a 2.1GHz Core i7-3687U. You get either 4GB or 8GB of RAM as standard, expandable to a maximum of 16GB.
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit is available as a downgrade from Windows 8 Professional on 14 configurations and preinstalled on two. The HP EliteBook Folio 9470m doesn't have a touchscreen, so the merits of using Windows 8 are questionable to say the least. Out-of-the-box availability of Windows 7 Professional will doubtless chime with many current corporate IT policies.
Storage options include 128GB or 180GB SSDs and a 500GB physical hard drives. Some models also include 32GB of flash cache, which is designed to accelerate disk performance.
Gigabit Ethernet is a common feature throughout the range, and there's a full-sized RJ-45 port — not something you see in every ultrabook — on the right-hand side, by the screen hinge. Also ubiquitous is 802.11a/b/g/n wi-fi via Intel's Centrino Advanced-N 6235 chipset, which also includes Bluetooth 4.0. Some models add mobile broadband (HSPA+ or EV-DO/HSPA) connectivity.
The EliteBook Folio 9470m has just three USB 3.0 ports, one of which supports sleep-and-charge. The charging connector is on the left edge, while the other two USB ports are side by side on the right. The left edge also houses a combined microphone/headphone combo jack and the power connector, along with a SmartCard reader.
Behind the two USB 3.0 ports on the right side, which are towards the front, sits a DisplayPort adapter, and behind it a VGA port — which will be welcome to those who need to use legacy equipment, either in their own offices or when visiting clients. Further back on the right side is a SD card slot, just in front of the RJ-45 Ethernet port.

Bing Translator app comes to Windows 8 with offline support

DNP Bing Translator comes to Windows 8
The Bing Translator app has been available on Windows Phone for some time, but today it's heading over to Windows 8. According to a post on the browser's Search Blog, the program was built "from the ground up" for Windows devices, and it utilizes the Share Charm to let you translate text from within any Windows 8 app. Otherwise, it works much the same as on other platforms: by using your gadget's camera to parse more than 40 languages (of course, you can type text to translate as well). The Translator app also includes offline support, so you can download language packs for use without a WiFi connection. Check it out for yourself by heading to the download page in the Windows Store.

Diablo 3 bedevils consoles on September 3rd, heading to Xbox 360

Diablo 3 isn't a Sony console exclusive anymore, it seems, with Blizzard Entertainment today announcing it's heading to Xbox 360 as well on September 3rd. The game will arrive for the PlayStation 3 on the same day as the 360 version, with the PlayStation 4 version arriving at an unknown point afterward. It's unknown if the game is also headed to Microsoft's next-gen console, Xbox One, though Blizzard told our friends at Joystiq, "We don't have any further platform announcements to share at this time." Not exactly a straight up "no!" The console version of the game is said to contain all the updates that PC / Mac users have enjoyed thus far, not to mention much needed relief for your clicking finger.

Evernote 5.1 Update Adds Syncing Reminders, Better Copy & Paste, And A Few Bugfixes

A to-do list/syncing note application and reminders go together like egg and cress. It makes you wonder why Evernote hasn't included a reminder/alarm function until now, but whatever the reason, it's been added in the 5.1 Android app update. Just tap the alarm icon on a new note to add one. Reminders for notes or events go in the greater "My Notes" list, allowing you to mark them off as you complete them. Android notifications will keep you up to speed on your approaching deadlines, and you can add email reminders as well.
Evernote's visual design is worthy of attention here. Take a look at that spiffy interface for setting a reminder time or due date. Sliding your finger clockwise around the blue circle will select a date, while the orange slider allows you to fine-tune the time of day. I don't know if this is actually betterthan the more conventional calendar/clock methods of setting a linear event, but it sure looks more interesting. Reminders can be added to Shared Notebooks and Business Notebooks as well, with individual subscribers opting in or out on a person-to-person basis. Naturally, reminders sync across the Android, iOS, and web versions of Evernote.
android_date
Other improvements to 5.1 include a better copy and paste implementation, better shortcuts, improved Japanese language support, and a corrected photo order. Evernote says that it may be several hours before the update app appears on all Android users' devices.

Sony will announce something on June 25. Perhaps the 6.4 inch Togari phablet?

Save the date: Sony Mobile announces event for the 25th June toWe have just received an invitation from Sony Mobile Communications Germany. What is in it, you can see on the graph shown above. On Tuesday, the 25th June 2013 at 15:00 clock the Japanese company wants to show something new or provide a first look into the future. We are excited about what it will be. Sony MC comes with its 6.44-inch phablet, the so-called " Togari "to? Or will it be a new high-end phone?

BlackBerry reportedly leaks with scaled-down touchscreen

article-titleBlackBerry looks to be sticking with its promise of six BlackBerry 10 handsets this year. A new leak shows off BlackBerry's latest entry-level to mid-range handset, that looks to be a scaled-down version of the flagship BlackBerry Z10. Could this be a "BlackBerry Z5", perhaps?
Publication BerryFlow obtained the images of the handset, but didn't provide many details on naming or specifications. It isn't very clear what BlackBerry's mission is with this handset is. A budget touchscreen aimed at emerging markets might make sense.
Of course, this could turn out to be a fake render, but we have to ask, who would take the time to Photoshop an entry-level BlackBerry handset? And to create a second render in 3D to give a further idea that the original one exists? Seems a lot of effort to us. The next iPhone, sure, but not a phone that's unlikely to even make it to many markets.
So we'll leave it to you readers. What do you think BlackBerry wants to do with this handset? Just another for its six device arsenal.

BlackBerry 10.2 shown off in new video

BlackBerry users are still eagerly waiting for BlackBerry 10.1 to be released to the masses later this year, but that isn't stopping the Canada-based BlackBerry from getting cracking on BlackBerry 10.2. A new video takes a close look at the new build.

BlackBerry has already confirmed a slew of features, like being able to set a time to remember an item, send Emojis in messages, set multiple alarms, and receive "level 1 notifications".  The video released on Thursday shows enhancements to the user interface, BBM Channels pre-installed, a revamp to BBM and the many changes to the clock app.
It's worth noting that this is an early build, so things could always change. At any rate, it's cool to see BlackBerry getting to work on some new features to improve the OS - which some have thought a bit underwhelming.
As for BlackBerry 10.1, betas have suggested we'll see HDR photo options, new help demos upon first boot for new users, ability to turn off alerts for specific apps, BlackBerry World coupon redemption and the ability to paste phone numbers right into the phone application. No word on a release, but it can't be too far off.

BBM for Android and iOS available for download June 27th

BMFZcPNCMAAazZM
BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is coming to Android and iOS this summer and according to a T-Mobile UK Tweet the release date is set for June 27th. Of course, nothing is certain until BlackBerry, Google and Apple give the final approval, but that’s a date you’re probably going to want to pencil in your calendar.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Update Fixes Storage Issues, Improves Camera

The update heading to users of the Samsung Galaxy S4 may finally alleviate the storage problem that’s plagued the flagship since launch, though it does so in a way that those calling for a fix might not have hoped for.
The update, which according to SamMobile is now available in the Samsung Keis client, includes a host of software fixes and updates designed to make lives easier for Galaxy S4 users. Thankfully, that includes addressing the lack of storage on the device’s lowest price 16GB device, though it’s only available to users of the Galaxy S4 with a SnapDragon processor right now, and only in Germany.
Samsung Galaxy S4 data used after one week thanks to a few games and one HD movie.
Galaxy S4 users with a Exynos processor and everyone outside of Germany will have to hold out hope that they’ll get the update in the near future.
Starting with today’s update, users will now be able to install applications onto the SD card that they have in their device. Thereby allowing them to free up more space for music and video on their device’s onboard storage. That’s a far cry from what users had been clamoring for, a way to summarily ditch many of Samsung’s preinstalled apps so that they can reclaim the space they take up, though at least the company is showing progress.

Modern Combat 5 Trailers Show

Today Gameloft unveiled its E3 trailer for the upcoming first-person shooter, Modern Combat 5, the latest in the publisher’s line of modern shooters.
The trailer shows off locations of the new shooter with some impressive graphics and lighting effects as well as a few seconds of what looks like gameplay footage. Unsurprisingly, the game features locations in European cities, lots of guns and a helicopter or two.

The trailer is very reminiscent of that latest games in EA’s Battlefield series, which is one of the obvious inspirations of the mobile FPS. Of course the game also takes a few cues from the Call of Duty franchise which kicked off the modern shooter craze with Modern Warfare a few years ago.
While the Modern Combat series liberally borrows from its console and PC competitors, that doesn’t make the game look any less impressive. The environments look almost on par with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though it’s still obviously a mobile game.
The lighting effects in particular show off what Gameloft’s engine is capable of producing on theiPhone and iPad. Light shines through windows, casting shadows behind statues and reflects off the surface of the water (which looks impressive in its own right).
Modern_Combat_5
The gameplay looks about the same as other Modern Combat games. Players run around the map trying to shoot as many other players as possible before dying. The most exciting segment shows gunners in helicopters flying above the streets trying to take each other down. There’s also a short segment that shows the player on a boat trying to kill their pursuers, which looks exciting.

iPad 5 Release on 10 june 2013

This morning Gumdrop cases is pushing an iPad 5 case for the new iPad that the company thinks will arrive on June 10th at WWDC 2013.
iPad 5 leaks point to a smaller, lighter iPad that looks like the iPad mini, and that’s what the new iPad 5 cases appear to support, even though the tire-tread design covers pretty much any hint of Apple’s design.
Gumdrop CEO Tim Hickman is no stranger to betting on Apple launches, and he’s back this time claiming we are in for an iPad 5 release at, or soon after, WWDC 2013 next Monday.
Gumdrop is already making an iPad 5 case based on leaks and claims Apple is prepping an iPad 5 release for June.
Gumdrop is already making an iPad 5 case based on leaks and claims Apple is prepping an iPad 5 release for June.
This morning Gumdrop cases sent out images for their iPad 5 case, claiming the rugged case will be available on June 10th, right after Apple announces the iPad 5. Hickman isn’t talking about where the iPad 5 details came from, but the company already has samples of the iPad 5 cases in hand and on the way to publications like CNet.
While there may be plenty of shoppers willing to buy an iPad 5 in the middle of the summer, we’re not sure users will have anything to put in this iPad 5 case for many months.

Mac support offers inter-OS personal VPNs

iTwin Connect updated with Mac support, offers inter-OS personal VPNs
iTwin Connect -- arrive offering (somewhat more useful) private and public VPN services. At the time this was for Windows only, but that's now changed. Mac users can get the same remote desktop, file access and aforementioned VPN functionality, that will also work between machines of both creeds. If you're on the fence about that $199 price tag, remember that comes with access to iTwin's own public VPN servers, and no subscription fee.

Snapchat 5.0 for iOS

Snapchat 50 for iOS brings a much cleaner, swipedriven interface
Snapchat is one of the biggest media sharing services outside of Facebook, so it's only fitting that the service's iOS app just got an equally big update. The 5.0 revamp switches to a cleaner, swipe-driven control scheme that leaves more room for all those short-lived pictures. It's likewise possible to peek at profiles within the app, reply through a double-tap and send images to address book contacts.

sky looking to sell Xbox One as set-top-box

article-title
Sky is reportedly in talks with Microsoft to sell the Xbox One next generation console to subscribers. However, rather than being added to existing packages as an extra, it is claimed that Sky might offer it as a separate set-top-box.
Games industry magazine MCV says that it has been told about the plans by sources familiar with the situation. It also speculates that the box could include a Sky satellite tuner or act as a video recorder in the future, although we suspect only the latter of these will is probable. The magazine suggests that initially the subscription from the provider and broadcaster could be centred around an Xbox One and a pre-installed Now TV or Sky Go application.
