Leaked Trailer Shows Watch Dogs Multiplayer

A new leaked trailer for Watch Dogs shows how multiplayer will work in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 game.
Watch Dogs is a game about hacking companies and individuals to further the goals of protagonist Aiden Pearce, so it makes sense that multiplayer will focus on hacking as well. The leaked trailer shows just under three minutes of players hacking into each other’s games to steal data from one another.
Hacking another player in Watch Dogs looks just as easy as hacking into an NPC’s bank account. Players just have to stay within range of the target for a certain period of time while their in-game smartphone does the rest. Of course, other players are smarter and more alert than the random NPCs that populate the game.
Players will get a notification when another player is attempting to hack into their game. The game then lets players retaliate by chasing down the hacker until they manage to kill them or make them run away, abandoning their mission. It appears that hackers don’t have the option to fight back with gunshots in the trailer.
While gamers will always see themselves as Aiden Pearce in Watch Dogs, they will appear in other players games disguised as an NPC. That makes it harder to spot the other players, and means the player may always have to watch out for other players in their game.
It’s not clear what information players will take from each other when they hack into a game, or how a successful hack will affect the victim. That information will likely come when Ubisoft is more willing to discuss the game’s multiplayer features.
Watch Dogs will come out on November 19 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. The game will also come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when those consoles launch. That could mean an earlier release for the PS4 version if the recent release date rumor holds true.
