Microsoft launches App Studio: a new tool for building Windows Phone apps (no coding experience required)

With 1 million applications in Android’s Google Play store and over 900 000 in Apple’s App Store, Microsoft’s Windows Phone looks way behind. The Windows Phone Marketplace only has 160 000 apps and it does not seem to be catching up.

While Microsoft has managed to attract some developers with apps like Temple Run and Gameloft releases, essential apps like Instagram are missing.

The platform needs apps and now there is a way to build one so easy it does not even require any coding experience. How is that? The new App Studio by Microsoft is a web-based tool that uses template to create Windows Phone applications. You don’t have to deal with code to create simple apps like a menu app for a restaurant, a review app or one of 13 templates.

The App Studio platform is still in beta and we are getting an error trying to build an app, but we are sure Microsoft will soon fix this. Try it yourself at the link below.
