Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (SCH-i435) for Verizon poses for the camera

The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini may be hitting Verizon’s network soon, as pictures of the device sporting the carrier’s logo on its back have surfaced online.

Is the Galaxy S4 mini coming to Verizon? Leaked photos showing the miniaturized sibling of Samsung’s flagship beast carrying the Verizon branding suggest North America’s largest carrier may become the first operator to bring the device stateside. The model number is SCH-i435, and the device in the photos look pretty convincing.
Despite carrying the flagship name, there’s nothing impressive about the S4 mini’s specs, which include a 4.3″ Super AMOLED display of qHD (540 x 960) resolution, dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel shooter on the back, 8GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot, NFC connectivity, and a 1,900mAh battery.

The software isn’t too much of a downgrade though, as most of the TouchWiz features found on the Galaxy S4 are included on the mini as well, running atop Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There’s no multi-window support, but considering the small screen size, no one would need to have two apps on the screen anyway.

The phone in the pictures indicates that a launch may be quite near, though nothing is official yet. Verizon has another “mini” smartphone in its lineup, Motorola’s Droid Ultra mini, which will retail at $99 and offer better specs than the S4 mini, and that might put the carrier into quite the conundrum when deciding how to price the latter.
Any of you Verizon subscribers looking forward to the Galaxy S4 mini?
