At long last, the Android 4.3 update has leaked ahead of its roll out, not only confirming the long rumored update’s arrival but also confirming the fact that it will be a minor update and that it more than likely will have a release at some point during the month of July for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition and more than likely, Google’s Nexus branded devices.
For weeks now, Android 4.3 has been rumored to be coming to Android smartphone and tablet owners, however, the details have remained in the shadows thanks to Google’s reluctance to announce the software. The company skipped Google I/O 2013 though it now appears that it’s on the verge of announcing something new.
Android 4.3 rumors have been swirling and two credible sources have agreed that Google is prepping the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for sometime in July. No specific date has been mentioned though we don’t expect that to arrive until Google either announces, or rolls out the update to owners of its Nexus devices.
Today, we have even more confirmation of an imminent Android 4.3 update. The reliable SamMobilehas leaked an Android 4.3 ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Nexus (Google Edition) that appears to be authentic. The software doesn’t appear as though it’s going to be enticing to average consumers but for developers or those that are accustomed to installing software early.
From the looks of things, Android 4.3 doesn’t appear to be a big update, something that isn’t surprising considering we’ve heard all along that it would be a minor update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It’s looking like Bluetooth LE is going to be on board, but thus far, nothing more substantial than that has emerged from the leak.
What this means is that those looking for a big time Android update will be waiting for Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie which is expected to debut sometime later this year and fully replace Android Jelly Bean.
In the meantime, it looks like Google will release Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to hold consumers over until it’s done with Key Lime Pie. Typically, updates hit Nexus devices first then carrier branded phones and tablet. Carriers in the United States are typically last in line so users of devices there should expect the software to hit sometime after the month of July.
