Blackberry 10.2 to support Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean apps
Blackberry will upgrade the ability of their BB 10 OS by enabling support for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean apps with the upcoming Blackberry 10.2 update.
Blackberry’s newest BB 10 OS boasts of the ability to run Android apps, but the initial release of the OS only supported apps compiled for Android 2.3 (and older). Now, with the next big update to the BB 10 platform (namely Blackberry 10.2), Smartphones based on the troubled Canadian company’s OS will gain the ability to run apps compiled for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Although a beta of the Blackberry 10.2 Runtime (for Android apps) has already been released, the new OS update will begin seeding to all BB 10 Smartphones only towards the end of the year, possibly early Q4 2013. As announced earlier, Blackberry 10.2 will bring a slew of new features like multiple alarms, level 1 notifications, standard Unicode emojis support, etc.
