Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot has confirmed that there are three Assassin Creed titles currently in production.

Ubisoft knew they had a winning franchise on their hands sometime after the second Assassin’s Creed. The critically-acclaimed title has a worldwide fanbase clawing for games each year and Ubisoft are more than ready to take their money.

Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot has stated that there are three Assassin’s  Creed titles all with their own different style of gameplay and innovations.

The flagship franchise has a yearly cadence for its game releases. Guillemot states his company has three titles in the works, and Ubisoft will be committing the necessary resources to offer a unique experience for each of them. “We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time”, Guillemot says. He notes that it could be two or three years for each title and it’s so they really take risks and change the concept during production so it can be “appealing and fresh”.

Guillemot made sure to promise “innovation” with the series, “That is, for me, the formula: if you can really change the game on a regular basis and bring in innovation your fans want a product very regularly. Our job is to make sure the teams have enough power, enough energy and enough time to take the necessary steps to create a high quality game.”

Guillemot knows the most important part of a good franchise is pleasing the fans, but it’s good they’re hoping to innovate and improve on the beloved franchise. The fact he understands that risks need to be taken for a creative process to flourish is incredibly important and glad to see that while they are developing three titles, everyone is getting time to make a unique title.

Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed title, Black Flag will be released for October 29th for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360 with next-gen versions coming by 2014.
