Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon

Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon

The Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon is a both a strange and bold animal. For $1,699 users get what is essentially a 27 inch tablet with a 1.8GHz Intel Core i5 processor, a NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, 8GB of RAM and 1 Terabyte of internal storage. The Horizon event includes a battery that should provide users with a few hours of battery life, if they’d like to take it on the go.
GottaBeMobile’s Josh Smith recently took a look at the Horizon.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2

When GottaBeMobile last took a look at the ThinkPad 2 from Lenovo, we walked away absolutely impressed by the device’s thinness in relation to tablets of the day. Sure, it didn’t come endowed with a stable of the latest accessories, but for many, the tablet’s 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, and optional 4G LTE and 3G mobile data compatibility put the device in a league of its own.
Users could also opt to get a tablet dock that will give them the same typing-friendly keyboard we’ve come to expect from the company’s line of full on tablets. For $611, users can pick up the ThinkPad 2 with a 1.5 Ghz Intel Atom Processor, a 10.1 inch IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage and a digital pen. For an extra $153 users can purchase a version that will allow them to pair the tablet with a mobile internet service.

Dell Latitude 10

Dell Latitude 10Dell Latitude 10

Dell’s new Latitude 10 tablet doesn’t include the latest in high-performance processors or the flipping screen of the XPS 12 convertible, however it more than makes up for that with a line of seriously impressive accessories that will make adjusting to life with a Windows tablet as easy as it can possibly be. The Latitude 10 can be paired with the Dell Latitude 10 Productivity Dock allowing users to pair the tablet with an upright dock that perfectly position’s the device’s screen for use on a tabletop and includes four USB devices, HDMI output and power.
That tablet’s digitizer can also be used with a Wacom Active stylus for taking notes and signing documents.
Inside every Latitude 10 is an Intel Atom 1.8GHz processor, a 10.1 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and 2GB of RAM. That it includes an IPS touch screen display at $499 is impressive. Typically, IPS displays deliver more vivid colors than those of standard LCD displays that are shipping in most Windows tablets.

Acer Iconia W510

Acer Iconia W510

Acer Iconia W510

While the Acer Iconia W510 certainly did nothing to change our opinions of devices that rely on Intel’s 1.8 GHz ATOM processors, the simple fact is that it’s 10.1 inch screen, 2GB of RAM and 32 GB SSD might be just the thing to appease those who aren’t necessarily looking for a desktop replacement or only have light computing needs like web browsing and enjoying media. Speaking of enjoying media, this tablet will allow those users to load desktop applications like iTunes, making it a perfect blend of what’s new and old for past Windows hardware users. Its $399 price tag should also please users’ wallets.

BMW launches its most powerful models ever

The new BMW M5 and M6 with Competition Package are the most powerful road cars in BMW's history.
With 575hp, the Competition Package adds 15hp to the output of the 4.4-litre V8 fitted to the M-cars. As well as more power, the Competition Package includes new suspension and steering settings, a new exhaust with black chrome tailpipes, and a different design of 20-inch alloy wheels. The Active M Differential is tuned for greater agility and the M Dynamic Mode allows the car to slide more before the Dynamic Stability Control intervenes.
The Competition Package costs £6,700 on top of the £73,505 price of the M5. It adds £6,500 to the price of the M6 CoupĂ© and Convertible and £5,500 to the price of the M6 Gran CoupĂ©.
At the other end of the 5-series range, BMW has added a new four-cylinder diesel model. The 143hp 518d is available in saloon and Touring (estate) versions. The saloon achieves 62.8mpg on the combined cycle and emits 119g/km of CO2. Prices start from £29,830.

Google Moto X: a superphone at a budget price

The phone, which is to largely be manufactured in America and is likely to launch later this year, will use advanced sensors to anticipate user behaviour, Motorola’s Dennis Woodside announced at a conference in America.
Without offering further details, he said the Moto X would change the way users “engage with how the devices are designed”, and that the “broadly distributed” phone would provide “experiences [that] are unlike other experiences out there.”

Recordium voice recorder app review

The humble voice recorder is one of a smartphone’s most used functions, but listening back to files and still worse transcribing them remains a chore. Until Google or Nuance make transcription completely automatic, apps are an essential tool to help the process.
Recordium, sadly iOS only, is among the best I’ve encountered – and journalists encounter quite a lot in a feeble quest for the painless interview. It’s a combined audio editor and recorder that lets you upload files to Dropbox, Drive, Evernote and more automatically.
Where it really sings, however, is in the easy ability to annotate, mark up and highlight recordings – so in a half-hour lecture you can note that certain sections are more relevant than others, or add your extra reactions. You can record in aiff, wav, caf or mp4, and speed up or slow down sections too.

Review: iPad Ultrathin Aluminum Keyboard Cover

Finding the perfect keyboard for iPad took an interesting turn when we discovered Brydge+, an anodized aluminum Bluetooth keyboard that competes with Logitech’s Ultrathin Keyboard Cover while using far better quality material.
The Brydge+ keyboard ($199 with speaker) gives iPad users a MacBook look, but with a slightly smaller size. The keyboard cover dimensions mirror that of the larger iPad.
Insert the iPad into two hinges spaced wide enough to not cover any of the screen. Rubber shims protect the iPad from the aluminum used to make the keyboard. These hinges grab hold of the iPad with enough tension to keep it in place. The Brydge comes with three pairs of shims to fit the last three generations of iPad. The hinges rotate nearly 90 degrees to allow any angle a person might need.

The Hide and Seek Of Happiness – Where To Look and How To Find It

I just finished watching the film, ‘The Bucket List’, one of my all time favourite, feel-good movies. Not only do I like the entertaining duo of Morgan Freeman the benevolent, wise soul and Jack Nicholson, who has the alacrity of a 5 year old, but I also like the significance of the film. ‘Our quest in life’. I think we all spend our lives on a quest. Osho referred to life as a quest and not a question, maybe a quest for meaning, for love, perhaps an esoteric piece of wisdom and for many … the quest for happiness.
There’s a scene in The Bucket List where Nicholson reads the letter Freeman wrote him, where he says, ‘find the joy in your life.’
FIND THE JOY. How do we define joy? Is a large portion of our lives spent on the attainment of happiness and is it sustainable? Happiness is an emotion, a mood, a feeling, and a dynamic state. It isn’t a destination we miraculously arrive at, it’s about cultivating moments’ of joy throughout the journey, and most importantly … happiness is a decision. It’s derived from intrinsic motivation. If we’re continually questioning when we’ll find happiness, and what exactly will create that happiness, then we’re depending on external factors and therefore not being accountable for our own lives.

If Success Was Easy, Everyone Would Do It

If Success Was Easy, Everyone Would Do It

There’s also a common misconception that being an entrepreneur is an easy road. The age of information has shown us the fruits of labor of the successful, but it rarely shows the tough road taken to that eventual success – a road that few would take if they knew all that it would entail, including the missing guarantee of success that many feel is at the end of every journey.
The road to success is always shared with uncertainty. No one knows that success is at the end of the tunnel, they may have faith – actually, all who are successful have faith – that what they’re doing will turn out alright, but they don’t know.
It’s uncertainty that leads to so many quitting before success is realized. It’s grit that keeps those who are willing to work and persist and evolve, in the game long enough to see their baby, their dream, their creation, fulfilled.
When the majority of “wannabe” entrepreneurs start out on their road to success, they think they’re unique. They believe that them being them is enough to warrant wealth. In this naivetĂ© they become soft. In this dream of an easy American Dream, they fail to develop the toughness that has to come along on an entrepreneurs lonely adventure.

Unlock The Hidden Power Of Your Network To Increase Your Net Worth Free

The 13 Steps to Transformational Marketing

1 – Assess the barriers that are holding you back

Your first step in transforming your network is to assess and define the barriers that are holding you back. Do you need to break a habit or routine? What is keeping you from connecting or reaching your goals?
Develop a list of your potential barriers. If you have a long list, don’t worry. Just focus on one at a time.  Addressing them will help you experience positive change and make connecting with others an easier and more enjoyable process. Take action, start a conversation when you’re feeling uncomfortable, or ask someone to join an activity: the results may happily surprise you.

2 – Define your core passions and purpose with the Funnel Test

With the Funnel Test you can review your passions and define a purpose to anchor your networking and ultimately help you increase your happiness and prosperity. Start by identifying three of your passions that clearly defines your core interests. The area where your three passions overlap is your sweet spot.
Next, write down how you are cultivating your passions and make a commitment to improve in these areas. Now come up with a with a selected word for your tone. Like a funnel, where the contents flow from top to bottom, envision all of your actions being influenced by your tone. Last, streamline your passions and create a purpose statement of less than twenty words that describes your purpose and use it to guide you down your chosen path.

3 – Create a mind-set of positive productivity

Positive productivity involves developing a mind-set of conscious effort to make the most of your time, connections, and relationships to increase your happiness, success, and true wealth. Try toexpand your circle of friends and professional allies; focus on networking opportunities, and positive productivity will help turn obstacles into growth situations.
Remember: In our global, networked economy, you can’t allow your social capital to lie dormant. Each day, to get more energy, be productive and active, and you’ll be unconsciously taking steps to build your future happiness. You’ll be surprised at how much you can accomplish if you take one step a day toward a personal or networking goal that you are trying to achieve.

4 – Develop a Give Give Get attitude

A key to value-based networking is helping others when you don’t expect anything in return. It’s not as easy as it sounds.
If you put giving back and helping others at the center of your networking and relationship building, you are likely to have more impactful and stronger relationships. By seeing networking as an opportunity to help people, you’ll discover that your actions change you for the better and help to transition out of negative states of emotion. Remember that the idea is “Give Give Get”; that is, put greater energy into giving than receiving. What you will find is that the giving will come back to you tenfold.

Detroit Electric SP:01 Brings the Electricty Back to Detroit

People often forget that electric propulsion for automobiles is not a new concept. Anderson Carriage Company in the early 1900s producedThe Detroit Electric, a popular electric vehicle for the time. Now the name is back with a Detroit company producing the SP:01. The $135,000 SP:01 is Detroit Electric’sfirst foray into the electric sports car, and they seem to want to follow in the tracks of Tesla, but improve on the products along the way.
The SP:01 is based on the Lotus Exige, and that comes as no surprise because the modern Detroit Electric was founded by Albert Lam in 2008. Lam came from Lotus as their Executive Director. It seems when a company wants to make a sports car without engineering all the sports car stuff, they turn to Lotus. Tesla did the same thing with the Roadster, which was built on the Elise platform from Lotus.
Similar in size to the Tesla Roadster, the Detroit Electric SP:01 is capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds. That acceleration time is on par with the fastest Tesla Roadster, the Roadster Plus. Interestingly, for Detroit-based brands, the SP:01 should also be able to outrun the new Corvette Stingray in the same run as well as other vehicles of similar horsepower. The Detroit Electric SP:01 is only capable of achieving 155mph, but that speed is faster than what any Tesla is currently capable of achieving.
Detroit Electric SP:01
All of this performance is delivered by a liquid-cooled asynchronous AC motor that is powered by two 37-kWh lithium polymer batteries. This delivers 201 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. Although those numbers seem small, electric motors make torque immediately from zero RPM. What that means is the engine is working its hardest all the way from idle to red line. A gasoline engine only makes its peak performance across a certain range of the rev band. Electric motors also have the advantage of being whisper silent.
When talking about a sports car, many people do not discuss fuel economy figures, but the Detroit Electric SP:01 is allegedly going to obtain 180 miles per charge, based on the new European testing cycle for electric vehicles. While official numbers have not been tested, that would be approximately 150 miles on the US cycle. That mileage figure is also on par with the Tesla Roadster. Thanks to the carbon-fiber body, the SP:01 weighs in at a svelte 2,403 lbs, which also helps the acceleration numbers and overall performance.
Detroit Electric SP:01
So what makes the SP:01 different from the Tesla Roadster? The SP:01 features a four-speed manual transmission and an optional two-speed automatic. The Tesla Roadster was supposed to have a two-speed automatic, but was scrubbed due to engineering difficulties. Because of the nature of the electric motor, the Detroit Electric SP:01 needs to be only in 2nd gear to hit 60mph, and there really is not a need to shift to third or fourth unless you need to go those speeds (range should not improve by driving in fourth gear everywhere). The automatic version of the SP:01 will feature two gears. Both vehicles should have the same top speed. One additional plus of the electric power train is that there is no need for a clutch (the motor is either on or off). Setting off from a traffic light involves just pressing the accelerator (even in the manual-equipped version). The only real advantage the now out-of-production Tesla Roadster had was price. The $135,000 cost of entry for the SP:01 is significantly higher than the Tesla.
The 155 mph top speed is an important number and milestone for an electric car. Most German vehicles are electronically limited to 155 mph for driving on the Autobahn, and by achieving that number the vehicle hints to the world that it is capable of keeping up with the best vehicles in the world.
Detroit Electric hope to have several more vehicles in the pipeline come 2014. They seem to be running on an accelerated Tesla time table (first the sports car, then the luxury sedan), but so far that has been successful for them. Hopefully, Detroit Electric will provide some much needed competition in the space to drive innovation and keep the costs down.

ACER ANDROID-CANDY FOR $ 400

In this regard, not the best perception of consumers of Windows 8 as well as the dominance of Android in the rapidly growing smartphone market, manufacturers are increasingly eyeing the mobile OSes like Google OS and desktop computers and laptops. A good example is the recently announced Android-Notebook HP Slatebook X2 .
In addition to many familiar interface and multiple applications (including decent office), this platform provides the advantage of not having to pay large royalties to Microsoft and use the powerful stuffing. And in the end it seriously reduces the final cost of the device.
That's a new candy bar Acer will cost about $ 400, despite the fact that his "brain" will be the newest chip Intel Haswell Core i5 4430 processor with a clock frequency of 3 GHz. We also know that an inexpensive candy bar is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, and the diagonal of its screen is 21.5 inches.
Monoblock Acer - this is just one of the first signs. Rather, its Android-desktops and laptops during the Computex 2013 show, and other manufacturers. Previously, Intel promised that very soon there will be Android-selling laptops on the platform Bay Trail cost only $ 200-300.

Toshiba delivers Portege Z10t Ultrabook laptop with detachable tablet mode

toshiba-portege-Z10t-windows-8-ultrabook-laptop-notebook
While Windows 8 has been available for several months now, Toshiba has just released its first business laptop using the new(ish) operating system in the form of the Portege Z10t, an Ultrabook that features a detachable display to provide tablet functionality.
The Z10t joins a bevy of Windows 8 convertible devices like the Dell XPS 12 and Lenovo Yoga 11Sand ThinkPad Helix that hope to marry the productivity of a laptop with the media-consumption convenience of a tablet. It's built around a 11.6-inch 1080p IPS touchscreen display with Corning Concore Glass, and a digitizer pen for easier inputting comes standard. Its innards include an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 4GB of RAM, and either a 128GB or 256GB solid-state drive.
The screen attaches to a locking hinge that's combines with a LED-backlit, spill-resistant keyboard and touchpad for Windows 8's gestures support. The total package is a mere 0.49 inches thick and weighs just 1.91 pounds. Though it ships with Windows 8 Pro, Toshiba points out that it will also support Windows 7 in both its 32- and 64-bit varieties. Other business-friendly features are Active Management Technology (AMT) and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) support.
The impressive package doesn't come cheap, however. The starting configuration with 128GB SSD will run $1,499 when it becomes available soon. While the company's press release says the Protege Z10t should be ready to order on Toshiba's web site, it does not appear available yet. Will it be worth the wait at that price?

How can I fix an IP conflict

Often this occurs when the network or part of a network is not using DHCP to automatically assign IP addresses to computers, and something on the network has been manually assigned the same IP address as you.
If you're computer has DHCP enabled, often rebooting the computer allowing it to get a new address assigned to it will resolve the issue.
If you're not sure if you're using DHCP or are using a static IP address, either try to locate the computer or device using the IP address or manually change your IP address to something else.  For example, if the address was 192.168.1.105 changing it to 192.168.1.112.

Acer Haswell AIO Android PC Spotted; Reveal Next Week

An Acer AIO PC sporting Android and a Core i5 "Haswell" CPU has been spotted on multiple retailer websites.
Online electronics retailer PC Connection is currently listing an Acer all-in-one (AIO) PC featuring an Intel Core i5-4430 "Haswell" CPU clocked at 3.0 GHz, and 1 GB of RAM. There's nothing else on the listing to indicate what platform it will use, the size of the screen or how much it will cost. However CNET reports that it's an Android-based AIO that Acer plans to announce next week.
According to the report, the Acer DA220HQL AIO PC will be priced just around $400 at most retailers. CompSource is listing the Android computer as well, but for $391 USD. This listing shares a few more details such as 8 GB of internal storage, Android 4.0 at the very least, 6 MB of L3 cache and 1 GB of DDR3 SDRAM. The display will be 21.5 inches, the listing reveals.
Unfortunately for Microsoft, the disappointing reception of Windows 8 has pushed ODMs to seek out new life in alternative platforms, and the Android/Intel combo will reportedly become an increasing trend during the second half of 2013. Android is a highly attractive platform because it is license free, and already comes packed with a library of apps, games, movies, TV shows, music and more through Google Play.
Last month former CEO Paul Otellini hinted to the wave of Android devices that are on the way, reporting that notebook prices should soon reach $200. Most of these will be based on Google's Android platform and Intel's Atom mobile processor, not Windows 8or ARM-based chips.
Even more, Dadi Perlmutter, Intel executive vice president and chief product officer, said at the time that Android devices running the company's mainstream Core processors could sell for as little as $399 to $499. Even some high-end Atom-based devices could extend to that price range as well.
Just this week Samsung reportedly signed a deal with Intel to use the chip maker's 32 nm "Clover Trail+" Atom mobile chip in at least one version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.0 10.1-inch tablet. It was supposedly spotted on benchmarks last week, sporting theAtom chip and Android 4.2.2. This tablet was designated as the Santos 103 and with the product number GT-P5200; the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 was dubbed as the GT-P5100 before it was released.
A large number of Android devices are expected to be announced alongside Intel's introduction of its "Haswell" line of fourth-generation processors during COMPUTEX 2013 this month. Like other ODMs, Acer can still reveal its new Android-based AIO without uncovering the actual processor.

The Core i7-4770K Review: Haswell Is Faster

Intel's Haswell architecture is finally available in the flagship Core i7-4770K processor. Designed to drop into an LGA 1150 interface, does this new quad-core CPU warrant a complete platform replacement, or is your older Sandy Bridge-E system better?

Do you know what it’s like to be at the top of your game, the nearest competitor several strides behind? Well, maybe not. But Intel sure does. When it comes to desktop CPUs, the company’s top-end parts continue to stave off AMD's best efforts. That applies to raw performance and efficiency.
We love fast, and we love efficient. But we also like to see healthy competition driving innovation. And again, on the desktop, there’s not enough of that to push Intel. Ivy Bridge-based CPUs are generally a small step up from the generation prior. And although the Sandy Bridge architecture included a number of notable improvements, unprecedented integration gave away Intel’s growing focus on mobility. Even as we got our hands on great features like Quick Sync, Intel was chiseling away at its enthusiast equity by limiting overclocking to K-series SKUs.
Expect more of the same from Haswell. You're going to see notable per-clock performance improvements, faster graphics, and additional features able to accelerate specific workloads. But you’re also going to witness a clumsy handling of overclocking (again), some strange decisions on the graphics side (again), and incremental gains that’ll have some of us upgrading our desktops, but more folks looking for Haswell-powered mobile platforms.
That's entirely by design, by the way. An emphasis on power is front and center with Haswell. And as a result, this architecture is going to span the broadest range of devices Intel has ever touched with one design. But I’ll argue that enthusiasts on the desktop take a back seat to make it all possible.

Meet Haswell, Now Known As Intel’s Fourth-Gen Core Architecture

Intel is rolling out the details of its Haswell-based processors in a staggered launch. The company plans to ship multiple variations of the architecture across a number of different interfaces, from very low-power segments to very performance-sensitive ones. However, the only arrangement emerging today is the quad-core SoC. Technically, Intel is talking desktop and mobile, though we’re deliberately focusing on the Core i7-4770K desktop CPU. I published a preview of Core i7-4770K’s performance almost three months ago, and that story has some information about Intel’s plans as well.

Monster iSport Victory

Yes, these are pricey, but in our view you get enough features to warrant the extra investment. The tangle-free cord actually lives up to its billing – many don’t – and while the sportclip design has been modified from the previous model, it still offers a secure fit even when worn under a cycling helmet*. Sound is even better than before, keeping the excellent noise isolation and deep, intense bass of yore, but with added detail and clarity. Last but not least, with a hygienic, anti-microbial coating and sealed housing, they’re easy to keep clean and sweat free.

Can you tell the difference in this Lumia 925 vs. 928 video comparison?

Can you tell the difference in this Lumia 925 vs. 928 video comparison?
Nokia has enough flagship devices in the market that it can finally start competing with itself when it comes to camera performance. Yes, we know the cameras on the Lumia 920 and Lumia 928 are not absolutely perfect, but they are top performers by any measure and we presume that performance will be at least as good or better with the Lumia 925, which has the distinction of bearing six lenselements in its camera assembly.

Pared with optical image stabilization, Nokia has created some highly capable cameras on these smartphones. They take great pictures and shoot very nice video. While we have seen some instances of the Lumia 925 strutting its stuff against the venerable Lumia 920, it is only natural that Nokia’s newest will eventually face each other as well.

The folks at SuperHDView have taken a short video sample of the two super-Lumia’s side-by-side as they panned across the landscape.

Having viewed the sample several times in full HD, we could not see any difference, can you?  Naturally, we will have an in-depth review of the Lumia 925 in due course, and we will be able to share our insights on its camera performance in great detail with you.
