The rear of the Terrano features a split taillight layout. The reflectors are placed on the lower bumper. The rear is broad and robust and looks significantly different than the Duster.
The Terrano is expected to launch in September with engine options of 104PS petrol and 85 and 110PS diesel, the same as in the Duster.

Bluetooth 4.0 support coming to Nokia Lumia 520,620 and 720 with Nokia Amber

image
Well, here is a bit of a surprise. We were only expecting Bluetooth 4.0 with Bluetooth Low Energy support to come to Windows Phone with Windows Phone 8.1, but it seems Nokia Amber will bring a bit more than FM Radio support.
According to Nokia, Nokia Amber will bring Bluetooth 4.0 support, including explicitly support for Bluetooth Low Energy.  The low energy standard is used to communicate with accessories such as heart rate monitors, fitness monitors like the Fitbit, and temperature sensors.
Nokia revealed the information to Blogjackphone.com at a blogger event at Hong Kong, and also noted that Nokia Amber will improve the sharpness of pictures in the Nokia Lumia 920, automatically improve the colour temperature of photos,  improve focussing times, keep photos sharp in the photo gallery even when zooming in, improve battery life, and of course a host of other improvements which we have heard of previously.
It is not clear if the Bluetooth improvements will also be coming to the Lumia 92x range.
Nokia Amber is expected to roll out in August to existing devices.
Thanks Damaster for the tip.

Indian phone maker Lava is all set to introduce the country’s first indigenous developed Tegra 3 powered Smartphone. Presenting, the soon-to-be-official, Lava Xolo Play. Lava Mobiles is doing all it can to increase the hype surrounding their upcoming product, much like what Micromax has done with the Canvas 4. The difference is, we are genuinely excited about the Xolo Play. Canvas 4? Not so much.
Xolo T1000
Lava Xolo Play specifications:
  • Nvidia Tegra 3 Chipset

Xolo_Play_GizChai
The 2000 mAh battery makes us genuinely concerned about battery life, as the Tegra 3 chips are hardly the most efficient of the lot. Lava’s Xolo Play will be a part of the company’s new “Next Level” branded products, tailed for high performance and a satisfactory gaming experience.
Lava will reportedly sell their phone for a price lying between INR 13,000 to 18,000 (or $210 to $300).

iWatch might come with flexible batteries

An Apple patent, filed in December 2011, hints at the possibility that the company’s much rumored iWatch might come with flexible batteries that will be shaped to fit its form factor.
iwatch-patent
The patent itself describes flexible battery packs that will be made up of different cells that are connected through a laminate layer, allowing the battery back to be conformed to an electronic device’s shape. Apple says in the patent application that conventional solutions like lithium-ion batteries are rigid and bending them frequently is likely to cause damage to the cells leading to battery failure. Thus the need for flexible batteries that can be designed to fit the shape of the device they’re supposed to power. Apple doesn’t limit this creation to just watches, it says that the solution can also be used in laptop computers, calculators, tablets as well as music players.
It has also been mentioned in the patent that certain cells may be removed from these battery packs to make space for a camera, theromelectric cooler etc, which will also allow the battery to fit tightly in a small space. Since there will be an isolated flexible cell arrangement, it will be a safeguard against the possibility of failure due to environmental factors such as dust and moisture.
There have been many rumors that Apple is working on a smartwatch that is the iWatch. The company reportedly has over 100 designers working on this device which is rumored to be released next year. Apple has already filed for the iWatch trademark in a number of countries around the world, thus escalating rumors about this particular device.

Pacific Rim tries out the Super Ticket theater + digital download combo in Canada

Pacific Rim tries out the Super Ticket theater digital download combo in Canada
In June Paramount and Regal Theaters tried out a $50 "Mega Ticket" promotion for World War Z, and this month Warner Bros. is testing out a similar package in Canada for Pacific Rim. Available at Cineplex theaters, it lets moviegoers pre-buy a digital Ultraviolet copy of the movie for $19.99 ($24.99 in HD) that's promised to arrive before anyone else can get it, plus 725 points for its loyalty program and some exclusive extra content, all viewable on the CineplexStore website. Unlike theWWZ promo this doesn't include an early screenings before the movie's July 12th release, but it does mean any ticket can be upgraded to the "Super Ticket" package. That the flick was shot in Toronto probably has a lot to do with the location for the offer, although it's hard to say what's needed to convince viewers to check out an action movie already getting glowing reviews from Hideo Kojima and Kanye West. Of course we'll miss the MegaTicket's included small popcorn ($75 value!), but this could be getting closer to a decent proposition -- what price would convince you to combine your movie ticket / home video copy in one purchase?

Microsoft shutting down MSN TV this September

DNP Microsoft shutting down MSN TV this September
Just after celebrating the service's sweet 16th, Microsoft has announced it will be shutting down MSN TV on September 30th. To help ease the transition, Redmond is offering current subscribers free access to MSN Premium through December 31st. After that, customers will have to pay the standard rate of $10 per month or $90 per year. Naturally, the modern service isn't compatible with MSN TV's defunct hardware -- save it for your makeshift Linux cluster.
Users will have to switch their email addresses to Outlook accounts and copy any saved content (bookmarks, Scrapbook photos, et cetera) to SkyDrive before September if they want to access it in the future. Of course, folks that miss the WebTV experience still have other equally unwieldy options. The shut-down was inevitable, but we can't help feeling at least a little nostalgic for the service's 640 x 480 view of the web.

HTC One mini specs confirmed

htc one miniWe already know that the HTC One Mini (M4) is coming this year and today we can confirm most of the used hardware, although it probably isn’t much of a surprise anymore. The smaller and cheaper version of HTC’s flagship seems to be comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S IV Mini, which was announced earlier this year.
According to the benchmark that appeared on GFXBench, the device is powered by a 1.4Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (Cortex A7) processor that is backed by an Adreno 305 GPU. On the front device you will find a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, which results in a pixel density of 342 pixels-per-inch. We can also confirm that the device will be running the latest version of Android (4.2.2) with of course HTC’s customer interface, Sense 5, running on top of it.
Other specs aren’t confirmed by the benchmark, but we do expect that the device will have a 4MP UltraPixel on the back, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and of course the usual options like Wi-Fi and HTC’s BeatsAudio & BoomSound features.
Schermafbeelding 2013-07-06 om 21.51.16
That’s all we know so far, but expect the HTC One Mini to be coming in the third quarter of this year, likely followed by the HTC One Max (T6).

Let love find you

First useful Agent Smartwatch app for Windows Phone created

Developer Matt Cavanagh from Roguecode has been playing around with the Agent Smartwatch SDK, which supports Windows Phone, and has posted this video of what I think is a truly useful application for the accessory.
The app not only lets users fire the camera from the watch, but also streams a black and white image of the preview video first, so users are able to make sure everyone is properly in the frame.
The app demonstrates that the Agent smartwatch is a pretty powerful platform, and that Windows Phone has what it takes to pair well with the wrist-based computer.
In the video the app is being demonstrated in the emulator. The actual Agent Smartwatch is expected to hit the market some time in December this year, after a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $1 million, and will be retailing for around $299.

Boomerang brings its Gmail wrangling Chrome extension to Android

boomerang-1 boomerang-2
Boomerang has long existed as a Chrome extension for Gmail users looking to wrangle a bit of productivity out of an untameable inbox. Google itself has incorporated measures to lessen the chaos of our email workflow, both on the web and mobile, but the company has yet to do anything about actionable email items.
Enter Boomerang. The idea behind is similar to anyone who’s used an app like Mailbox or Triage for iPhone. Using a gesture-based system, you can easily swipe right to archive an email, or swipe left to set up a Boomerang, which generates an email reminding you to something with that action. Either respond, continue to delay, or delete the email entirely.
The app looks great, and gives you access to all your Gmail labels (or Google Apps for Business), with more services coming soon. You can search your entire database, snooze incoming emails, set reminders for actions, set custom signatures and track responses to emails you’ve sent.
While it may not perform as well as the official Gmail client for Android, Boomerang supports multiple accounts, doesn’t contain ads, and is absolutely free. It may not replace your email client, either, but it’s worth it to pop in there every once in a while to generate some boomerangs.

Google Voice SMS Messages Can Now Be Sent Through The Stock Messaging App

One issue that has plagued many Google Voice users since the dawn of time (or at least since GV became a thing) is how not good the app itself is. Those who use GV as their primary phone number are stuck using the app for things like sending/receiving SMS messages, and up until now, there was absolutely no alternative.
Today, however, Koush Dutta has announced Google Voice SMS integration in CM10.1 with not only the stock messaging app, but also any third party application you may use (GoSMS, Handcent, etc.). This is a pretty big deal to anyone who uses both Google Voice and CM, but may also be incentive for GV users who are tired of the terrible app to give the latest CM10.1 builds a shot.
The process seems to be pretty straightforward – here are Dutta's instructions on how to get it working, directly from his Google+ page:
This comes with no support, and is nowhere near complete.
0) Google Voice must be installed with notifications enabled (for now).
1) Install a recent +CyanogenMod nightly. July 1st or later. You need the SMS middleware patches I put in for PushSMS. (see Gerrit)
2) Push this apk to /system/app:http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/babel-signed.apk adb install will not work. The app requires system/signature permissions.
4) Start Babel, choose your Google Voice account. Authorize it.
6) Click the "Accessibility service" button, and it will direct you to settings. Enable "Babel".
No, Babel is not the final name.
How it works:
The app will sync your existing Google Voice messages into your messaging store. New Google SMS will be received as if it were a normal SMS.
When you send a message out from your messaging app, it goes out via Google Voice.
And that's basically it. Dutta notes that this implementation is still in the early stages of development, so you may run into some snags here or there. For Voice users, however, the fact that it's being done at all is impressive.

NFL Releases Official 2013 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet

The football season is fast approaching, and that means hoards of fans are getting their fantasy rosters planned out. Anyone getting in on the action will want a way to keep track of all the necessary stats, and that's where the new NFL Fantasy Cheat Sheet app comes in. It's got IDP, ADP, AAV, VBD, and probably other esoteric acronyms.
1 2 3
The NFL Fantasy Cheat Sheet lets you keep track of your players with live updated stats and news. There are various score projections and recommendation engines, as well. If you want to simply dig into the numbers and make your own guesses, the app contains all players stats for the last three seasons. The NFL fantasy app can be heavily customized to match the scoring rules used in your league.
4 5
You might wonder why this is a new app, considering the old app was just updated for the 2012 season. If you're the cynical sort, money would be a safe bet (the UI even looks identical). The 2012 app has been unpublished, and the new one will run you another $3. If you're big into Fantasy Football, that might be well worth the price.

answers questions about GTAV

Rockstar games has posted a new edition of its “Asked & Answered” feature, detailing some new information about GTAV, including facts about switching characters, and customizing weapons and vehicles.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and we’ve all got plenty of questions about it. Rockstar Games have thus released a new edition of their “Asked & Answered” segment to give us some morsels of info about the things we’re most curious about. Many people are wondering how we’ll switch between the three protagonists in the game. This is what Rockstar had to say:
Michael, Franklin and Trevor have their own separate lives with their own sets of friends and acquaintances, and even their own preferred ways of spending their free time. When you’re not on a mission, you can freely switch in real-time to any of the three characters to drop in and out of their lives letting you see what they’re up to. And because they have their own schedules, you’ll never know what they might be doing – you might drop in on Michael in the middle of a family dispute, interrupt Franklin chatting up some ladies, or Trevor on the run from the law – or whatever else these guys do in their free time… How and when you switch between characters when you’re not on a mission is completely up to you.
In addition, each of the guys has their own missions and side jobs. There will be times on a mission when you play as one character, or as combinations of two of them, and sometimes as all three, always being able to switch between the characters mid-action.  Off mission, it’s up to you. You can play as one character on his own or hang out with either of the other two or both of them, or you can switch between any of them.
They wouldn’t say much about customization in terms of weapons or vehicles, but from what they did say, things seem promising:
Without going into detail just yet, we can tell you that both will be very customizable – with a range of weapon upgrades as well as some very deep car customization. Stay tuned for more very soon.
Rockstar also mentioned that GTAV is going to be a pretty big game. It requires installations on both the 360 and PS3 and is going to make use of everything current gen consoles have got to offer; a perfect swan song before next-gen perhaps:
Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game we have yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems.
For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.
This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance.  For PlayStation 3, the game ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.
The post also mentioned multiplayer details being released soon, and that we’d be getting some gameplay videos in the near future. Check out the official post for more details!
