Luna is an amazing Cydia app that offers a better Do Not Disturb experience for iPhone and iPad users thanks to a pull down toggle and smarter notifications. Luna is what Do Not Disturb should be in iOS 7.
Do Not Disturb is an iOS 6 feature that allows users to essentially block notifications from lighting up the screen and making noise when the phone is sleeping. This is a handy feature, but anyone using the phone while this is on will still get notifications, including vibrations and alerts.
Luna fixes most complaints about Do Not Disturb, allowing users to take control of Do Not Disturb and silence annoying alerts and vibrations when Do Not Disturb is on.
Luna Cydia App Review Video
The short Luna video below shows off most of the Luna features, which are well worth the $1.99 price in Cydia.
Luna is a better version of Do Not Disturb offering more control to users without a cluttered interface or too many options. The first feature users will enjoy is easily turning Do Not Disturb on with a pull down swipe in the Notification Center. Users can also turn this on the Lock Screen.
The Luna Cydia app also lets users customize notification alerts. The Nocturnal Banner notification type is a small notification that arrives in the status bar. This allows notifications to come through when the phone is unlocked, like when reading a book, without disturbing the experience.
Users can also turn off the Alert Tones using Luna. This is my favorite feature as it allows me to read, iMessage and browse Reddit with Do Not Disturb mode on while I am in bed, without the worry about waking up my wife with alerts from various apps. Before this tweak I would manually turn off vibration and end up with a completely silent phone at least two days a week when I forgot to turn it off.
Luna is the creation of Ryan Petrich and Newar Choukier and is released by A3 Tweaks. Newar is better known as @Sentry_NC on twitter. Luna started as an iOS 7 concept showing a better Do Not Disturb experience, and like his previous creation Auxo, it is now available to users with a jailbroken iPhone or iPad.
