The Droid DNA Sense 5 update has been pegged for release sometime this summer though a specific release date remains elusive and likely will up until the software’s arrival.
Earlier this year, HTC confirmed Sense 5 for a number of devices including the HTC One X, HTC One X+, HTC One S, and the HTC Butterfly. The company has yet to roll out those updates though we know that at least one of them, the HTC Butterfly Sense 5 update, is close.
HTC itself reportedly confirmed the update for May though with less than 24 hours left in the month, it’s unlikely that the software will roll out. That said, the update, which should come along with Android 4.2, appears likely for June. Those who own the HTC Butterfly in the United States, under the moniker Droid DNA, are also likely wondering when their software will roll out and while it may not be next month, it’s looking like summer is a distinct possibility.
According to @LLabTooFeR, who has been extremely accurate with his HTC update information, the Droid DNA Sense 5 update, and likely its Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, will roll out this summer. He exclaims that he is “sure” about this and even punctuates the remarks with a smiley face. So while HTC and Verizon have yet to issue any sort of details in regards to the Droid DNA’s Sense 5 update, owners should now expect it to arrive sometime this summer, presumably after the HTC Butterfly gets its upgrade.
Verizon typically does not announce roll outs until the day it starts rolling out the software, so Droid DNA owners who are interested in the roll out will likely need to rely on unofficial information and leaks in the buildup to its eventual release.
The Droid DNA remains one of the top options at Verizon, though, it looks like it could be replaced by the HTC One in the month of June. Verizon is heavily rumored to be introducing the metal HTC One sometime next month with a release pegged for the later weeks, possibly coinciding with the release of the HTC One Nexus on the Google Play Store.
