Samsung hurried up to transform the Galaxy S4 brand into a whole range of smartphones. The South Koreans introduced Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (a mid-end model that looks like a undernourished Galaxy S4), the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom (which is a camera phone with mid-range specs but with a 16 megapixel 10x optical zoom camera), and Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (a water and dust proof Galaxy S4 that comes with an 8 megapixel camera).
At Samsung, even the flagship device itself has four variants: the Exynos 5 Octa-powered model, the Snapdragon 600 model codenamed I9505, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition, and the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A with Snapdragon 800 processor.
It looks like HTC will have a similar approach with the One flagship, but, according to the rumor mill, the HTC One line-up will only be limited to three devices. Besides the HTC One flagship that was officially introduced in February, it looks like the Taiwan-based company will also announce a HTC One Mini, which will take on the Galaxy S4 Min, and the HTC One Max (codenamed T6) which will be a rival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
After we’ve heard new details and seen new photos of the HTC One Mini earlier today, now it’s time to talk about the biggest member of the HTC One tribe: the HTC One Max.
Even though we haven’t seen a picture of the HTC One Max so far, some leaks that were revealed by HTCSoku.info are telling us more about the smartphone’s codenames and variants. The existence of the first phablet developed by the Taiwan-based company was recently confirmed by some O2 Germany documents, where the HTC One Max was caught red handed.
Rumor has it that the HTC One Max, just like the LG Optimus G2 and the recently-announced Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A, it will be compatile with the LTE-A networks, which promise speeds of up to 15 Mbps. The latest reports are indicating that there will be 9 HTC One Max variants, depending on its connectivity features and the market where it is made available.
In case you are wondering what rumor mill has to say about the HTC One Max, I will tell you that it was reported that the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with a quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU, while sporting a 5.9-inch display with full HD resolution, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage. Most sources indicate that the HTC One Max will borrow the 4 megapixel Ultrapixel camera from the HTC One flagship.
It’s interesting though that the leak is mentioning that the HTC One Max is running Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie out of the box, so will still have a lot to wait until the HTC phablet is officially introduced, since the new Android iteration will most likely debut in October. If Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie makes its debut in October, we will most likely see the HTC One Max hitting the market late November or early December, just in time for the Christmas shopping frenzy.
Sources say that the HTC phablet will come with a 3,300 mAh battery which corroborated with the above technical specs will make the One Max a powerful competitor against Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
