PS4 Release Date Teased by Sony

Sony teased a PS4 release date today sharing an image on Twitter that points to a PS4 release in early November.
November already looks good for a PS4 release date as it gives Sony enough time to get the console in hands, and to replenish stock, before the holidays arrive in full force and it would match up with an Xbox One release date which will likely happen in November as well.
Sony shared the image below showing an eclipse, with the text, When Worlds Collide onTwiter without any further comment.

This teaser doesn’t line up with any specific games, which leads us to believe Sony is starting a marketing campaign for the PS4 release.
November 3rd is the date of a total solar eclipse which will be visible in North America, Asia, Europe and other locations. New York City will see a partial solar eclipse this day.
Given the imagery in the PS4 teaser image, it’s possible that Sunday November 3rd is the PS4 release date or the kickoff of a major campaign that leads up to the PS4 release. The image below shows a total solar eclipse, which looks a lot like the teaser image.

November 3rd is a Sunday, which isn’t out of the question for a PS4 release date, though Sony launched the PS3 on a Friday in North America. A Sunday PS4 release would put Amazon behind on deliveries, giving retailers like GameStop which recently sold out of basic PS4 pre-orders a small lead.
A previous leak pointed to a PS4 release date of November 13th. That leak came not from Sony, but from major European retailers that printed up a sign for the PS4 release with November 13th on hand. The sign below from Media Markt, by way of the NeoGaf forum, shows that at least one retailer is planning on a PS4 release before the middle of November.

Previously Sony released the PS3 in North America before Europe, so there may be truth to both dates. While the PS3 european release came months later, a closer release makes more sense in 2013.

Sony has yet to officially announce the PS4 release date, but it looks like we are on the cusp of a marketing blitz for the PS4 release date that could include more teasers and viral images and videos.
Sony is showing off parts of the PS4 user interfaces, as seen in the video below and sharing details about the device.

The Sony PS4 price is $399 for the entry-level bundle, $100 less than the Xbox One.
