HTC One Phablet Slated to Launch Soon

HTC may soon be expanding its HTC Oneflagship line to add a new member to the family in the form of a device with similar specs and a screen size that’s described as being in the 5-inch range. The company has so far not commented on such rumors, but un-named sources to UK’s Pocket-lint confirmed that a larger HTC One phablet will be coming soon.
HTC is set to launch a bigger HTC One soon, according to people familiar with the matter talking to Pocket-lint.
The device has a code name of HTC T6.
HTC still has not commented or made any announcements about this device at this time. Despite being one of the earlier manufacturers to push devices with larger screen sizes, HTC more recently appears to be more conservative with larger displays. However, given the success of the Galaxy Note line from Samsung, perhaps HTC is taking notice.

At this point, it’s unclear if this will be an entirely different device or if it will be the successor to the 5-inch HTC J Butterfly, which launched in the U.S. as the HTC Droid DNA under wireless carrier Verizon Wireless. That model was the first to debut a 1080p full HD display in HTC’s product family, though it came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro rather than the more powerful but power efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, a new processor that debuted on the HTC One. A Droid DNA or J Butterfly successor had been rumored in the past, and it’s unclear if this would be that same model or if it will be a new model for the One family.
“The new model will feature the same spec underneath the hood as the current HTC One, but will feature a bigger screen in line with what Samsung offers with the Samsung Galaxy S4,” Pocket-lintreported. “Although our source is currently unable to confirm the exact screen size, they have confirmed that it will be above 5-inches but below 6-inches.”
Verizon, the lone carrier of the big four national carriers in the U.S., is rumored to be sporting some version of the HTC One in the future. At this point, it’s unclear what the fate of the HTC One will be with Verizon, and if Verizon will choose the HTC One, the rumored HTC Droid DNA 2, or this new HTC One phablet.
In addition to the HTC One, HTC is also rumored to be coming out with a smaller HTC One Mini with a 4.3-inch display code named the HTC M4. The HTC One had the M7 code name. The HTC One Mini will likely compete against Samsung’s rumored Galaxy S4 Mini; the HTC One phablet will battle Samsung’s Galaxy Note phablet series; and the HTC One is currently holding it’s own against Samsung’s Galaxy S4 flagship.
