Mophie Juice Pack for HTC One Review

While the HTC One is a beautiful phone, it doesn’t exactly have the best battery life, which is why Mophie create the Juice Pack for HTC One.
The Mophie Juice Pack for HTC One is an external battery case for HTC’s flagship phone that does its best to keep the design of the phone intact while offering plenty of extra battery life. Unfortunately, the Juice Pack is made of plastic instead of metal like the phone itself, but the basic shape is still there.

Mophie’s HTC One battery case adds a bit of bulk to the Android smartphone, making it harder to fit in a pocket than usual, though not impossible. The case doesn’t add much weight, but it does make the HTC One about twice as thick and adds about a centimeter to the bottom of the phone. The size make the phone a bit unwieldy at first, but after keeping the case on for a few days it wasn’t a problem.
Because of the front-facing BoomSound speakers on the HTC One, the Mophie Juice Pack doesn’t block any sound coming out of the device, though it does have holes for microphones. The case has a black plastic piece covering the power button which lets IR signals through for those who use the feature.
As a case the Mophie Juice Pack is serviceable, but it works very well as a battery. Mophie claims the battery can double the user’s battery life if they follow specific guidelines. In our testing the Mophie Juice Pack was able to carry the HTC One through a full weekend of moderate use that included browsing the web, checking Twitter, taking photos and reading in the Amazon Kindle app.

For those who prefer to run their battery down, the Mophie Juice Pack for HTC One was able to bring the HTC One from zero to 78 percent battery. Not quite double, but it takes more power to charge from a dead battery than it does to recharge a battery that’s at about 20 percent or more.
For $99.99 the Mophie Juice Pack for HTC One is a bit expensive for some, but it’s a worthwhile investment for those who find their phone being too quickly and who don’t mind some extra bulk.
