OCZ Technology Group announced on Thursday the launch of its Vertex 450 SATA III SSD series. The new solid state drive (SSD) series is designed to bridge the gap between high-performance and mainstream solid-state storage, offering the company's proprietary Indilinx Barefoot 3 M10 series controller and 20nm NAND Flash.
The Vertex 450 series will offer 20nm NAND flash replacing the 25nm-based Vertex 4 previously used. With this new technology, the Vertex 450 boasts bandwidths up to 540MB/s read, 530 MB/s write, and 4K random write performance of up to 90,000 IOPS.
The Barefoot 3 M10 controller will offer high speed sequential transfers for both compressed and uncompressed data file formats offering faster file transfers and boot-ups. Derived on existing technologies that add AES-256 encryption and a power-optimized clock, the BF3 M10 controller will provide the OCZ with a suite of flash management tools that analyze and adapt to increase NAND vulnerabilities as flash cells wear, helping to increase data integrity.
The Vertex 450 SSDS will also feature 7mm alloy housing for compatibility with thin form factors, and the device will be bundled with a 3.5-inch adapter bracket as well as Acronis True Image cloning software with Windows 8 support. The Vertex 540 will be available in 128GB to 512GB capacities with a 3-year warranty.
