In iOS 7, Apple has made a slight change in the way users search their devices via Spotlight. Users will now be able to access Spotlight from every Home screen app page, this is a welcome change from the conventional Spotlight panel that can be accessed by swiping left from the main page of Home screen.
Spotlight search has always had its own panel, it has been this way for quite a long time, its like this even in iOS 6. To bring up Spotlight search in older iOS versions, users either had to swipe left from the main Home screen app page, or they could also click the Home button twice from any app page to bring up the Spotlight panel. iOS 7 mixes up things a little bit. Spotlight will now be available on every app page on the Home screen, users simply need to swipe down anywhere outside the app dock.
Doing so will bring up a text box that carries the familiar “Search iPhone” words, from here the device can be searched for emails, messages, apps, files and a lot more. To close it, users simply need to tap anywhere outside the text box and the normal app page will come up once again. It might take some time for everyone to get used to this gesture, particularly if its being employed at the very top. Swiping down from the top also brings down notification center. Nevertheless, this is evident that Apple is gradually increasing the use of gestures in iOS.
