New Windows 8.1 apps revealed

Microsoft will bundle Windows 8.1 with many new apps. Here’s your first look at them.Windows 8.1 apps (3)When the redesigned Windows Store on leaked Windows 8.1 builds went live,  the lucky ones got a glimpse of the new apps that Microsoft has in store for us with their first major update for their ambitious Windows 8 platform. Among them is a completely redesigned Xbox Music app, replacing the old and clunky interface with a new two-panel interface that allows you to both access your music library faster while improving the discoverablity of new music. Sweet ain’t it?Windows 8.1 apps (2)Windows 8.1 apps (7)Windows 8.1 apps (8)Windows 8.1 apps (9)While Microsoft had already approached a simplistic “Modern UI” approach with Windows 8, the new Windows Blue update will only build upon that, at least that’s what the screenshots indicate at. Honestly, we got no complaints as long as the quality of apps goes only northwards.Windows 8.1 apps (11)Here’s the list of new built-in apps added to Windows 8.1:

The updated Windows Store app’s design works in portrait mode as well, clearly keeping 7-inch and 8-inch tablet screens in mind. All these new apps and tweaks along with more will be unveiled by Microsoft at their annual BUILD conference on June 26th. Also, on the same day Microsoft will release the preview version of their free Windows 8.1 update to the public. We can’t wait to see the numerous other tweaks and changes that Windows Blue will bring along with it.Source Bavo (Twitter) via The Verge
