Acer Would Love To Do A Windows Phone If There Is A Great Demand

Acer is not new to Windows Phone world as they have already released a device in the past. Speaking to TechRadar, Allen Burnes, Acer’s VP of Smartphones for EMEA told that Windows Phone 8 is a great OS with integration with Xbox, Office and more, but no one knows about it.
“You’ll find everyone in our smartphone team would really like to deploy Windows OS, but in relation to where we are as a company we have to make our decisions in relation to what we think will sell out.
He revealed that Acer has made the decision not to launch a Windows Phone 8 device this year, but they will do a Windows Phone device in the future by seeing the growth go this year. Acer expects Microsoft to build Windows Phone brand on their own instead of relying on Nokia alone.
“The way WP8 integrates in with the rest of the Windows ecosystem is phenomenal,”
“so yes we are looking at Windows Phone 8, yes we do believe in it, it just doesn’t sell enough at this moment, otherwise we would deploy it this year.”
Do you think Acer is trying to play the smartphone game safe ? I doubt their strategy will work because if you allow one OEM to dominate a platform by giving them time, it’s difficult to replace them. Look at Android and Samsung story now, you will understand what I’m trying to tell.
