Sony Xperia Z has been launched with the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 build several months ago and now the Android 4.2.2 JB has been leaked, but it works only on devices with unlocked bootloaders.
The news is coming directly from theXperia Blog and the firmware build is 10.3.A.0.407, a version that was pushed out for developer editions of the Xperia Z. However, the ROM has been customized and it works with the standard model of the phone. This build cannot be used as a daily ROM, as some functions and features might not work correctly.
Doomlord, an XDA member and developer, is the one who leaked this unofficial Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware version 10.3.A.0.407 and it should work with the C6602 and C6603 models of the Sony Xperia Z. It won’t work with the Xperia ZL nor Xperia Tablet Z. Since this is not an official build, we do not recommend you to use it if you’re a beginner.
The official update to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the Sony Xperia Z should be announced and released some time this summer. All Xperia Z owners expect for this release to happen sooner rather than later. With the new update they will see several bugs fixed and all the other functions improved when the latest available build is released.
