Sony Xperia ZU Release Date is June 25th

While we still don’t have any official information about the upcoming Sony Xperia Zu, rumors are gathering and we are beginning to make an idea about what we can expect. The Taiwan-base online publication ePrice has published some interesting details concerning Sony’s new flagship smartphone, which include an entire series of technical specifications, but also the official release date of the device. It looks like the handset will be officially unveiled on June 25, when Sony is going to host a mobile event, thus there is not much longer until we get to see the actual phone.

The report is mentioning the same specs that have been rumored over the past couple of weeks. So, the Sony Xperia Zu will be powered by the best processor developed by Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 800, which will be clocked at 2.2 GHz. The smartphone will also include 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, which can be extended with up to 64 GB using a microSD card, an 8 MP rear-facing camera, and a non-removable 3000mAh battery.

It all looks very good with one exception. Okay, a 3000 mAh battery is not so bad on a regular smartphone, but the Sony Xperia Zu is said to have a 6.44-inch display, which is substantially bigger than the galaxy Note 3, and Samsung’s product has a 3100 mAh battery. So, I’m a little worried about the battery life if we also add the fact that it will pack a more powerful CPU.

Apart from the release date and specs, the report also provides details about some of the features that will be coming along with the Sony Xperia Zu such as the possibility to utilize any pen, pencil of something similar as a stylus. The stylus features will have their own dedicated apps such as Note and Sketch. Another important characteristic is borrowed from the Xperia Z, namely its resistance to dust and water.Speaking of the display, besides the big size we also know that it will be Full HD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and it will have a pixel density of 342ppi.

At this point it’s pretty clear that the Xperia Z is meant to compete with rival phablets like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the HTC One Max, and it certainly has the means to do that because it seems like a beast.
