Some code based references have reportedly been found in the first beta of iOS 7, which point toward the possibility that Apple may be testing deep LinkedIn integration for its mobile platform. The company started the process of such deep integration with iOS 5, when it baked in Twitter, Facebook followed next in iOS 6.
iOS currently offers system wide integration of Facebook and Twitter. Users are able to share content to these networks directly from mobile Safari and Photos, as well as a number of other native apps. LinkedIn integration for iOS 7 is reportedly going to be along the same lines, with users apparently being given the ability to post content like web links to LinkedIn through the share menu.
Certain code required to make this LinkedIn integration work in iOS 7 beta 1 is reportedly missing. It is possible that Apple is merely testing this feature internally, perhaps it will make it more prominent and usable in future betas, or perhaps we might not even see traces of it. To put things in perspective, keep in mind that Apple tested Facebook integration in iOS 4, but the feature did not materialize till iOS , which came out late last year. Apple will seed quite a few beta versions before the final iOS 7 public release, only then we’ll know if LinkedIn integration for iOS 7 is really coming.
