HP Slate 21 AIO, a Tegra 4 powered 21.5-inch All-In-One running on Android 4.2.2

Hot on the wheels of the first Tegra 4 product launched in the market is HP’s new Slate 21, a 21.5-inch All-In-One running on Android OS and powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 4 SoC.

Looks like Tegra 4 powered devices are finally seeing the light of day. HP has announced its Tegra 4 powered 21.5-inch All-On-One device. Dubbed the Slate 21, this new product puts Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on a large display, an uncharted territory for the OS really as there aren’t many instances where you get to see Android running on a display larger than 10-inches. It isn’t entirely surprising too, seeing the current state of Windows RT and the industry’s inclination to stay away from the troubled platform from Microsoft’s camp. It doesn’t look like the imminent release of a Windows 8.1 Public Preview is doing any good for the manufacturers. OEMs have simply lost faith in RT.

Coming back to the device, the 21.5-inch touch enabled display boasts of a Full HD (1920 x 1080) panel. Now this may leave many wanting for more (of course, when you have 10.1-inch tablets with 2560 x 1600 panels, you tend to become a little bit spoilt), but a 1080p display isn’t all that bad for 21.5-inches spread. DTS Surround speakers are also in the package, promising consumers of a delightful audio experience. HP may have customized the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean interface to adapt to the large display, hopefully making it more intuitive to use.
