Never Miss Another Track: Get Daily Reminders for Google Play's Free Song of the Day

With millions of options to choose from in Google Play's expansive library of songs and albums, it can most definitely take a toll on the wallet after a while. As (slight) consolation, Google offers one free song a day, available for download straight from Google Play onto your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or other Android device.
Google's daily free song sure beats other services' free selections. Apple only offers one free single each week, and Amazon offers a decent selection of free songs from rising artists, but they're mostly unheard of, unlike Google, where anything goes. Massive Attack anyone?

The Only Problem with Google Play's Free Songs

While the songs may be free, it still requires you to remember to head over to Google Play, go to the Music section, scroll down, and find the Free Song of the Day—every single day. I don't know about you, but I already have enough things to remember without adding one more.
So how can you make sure you're on top of things and always be reminded to download your free songs?

Use FSOTD to Remind You!

Free Song of the Day (also known as FSOTD), by Android developerTaggahertz, is an app of the same name that provides you with easy access to the free song of the day, along with reminders so you'll never forget.

All you have to do is open the app, which will then bring up a few choices as to what you can do.
If you tap on Get Song Now!, you'll be taken automatically to Google Play, where you can listen to the song and download it. You can also check out artist and album info, as well as Previous Songs which will have the last five free songs, most of the time still available for download.
In the settings, you can set a daily reminder and the type of alert you want to receive—anything from a vibrate and LED flash to a simple banner that appears in your notification bar.
With this simple app and its useful notification, you'll never forget to take advantage of Google's free music downloads anymore.
