New Apple iPad coming with GF2 touch screen, Apple debating Retina display for iPad mini

The new Apple iPad is coming soon and while it will have a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536-pixel display like its predecessor, it won’t be the same exact screen. Apple is said to be using a new G/F2 touch technology that will make the device thinner and lighter. Apple is already using G/F2 or GF Ditto in its iPad mini, and that's what allowed making the device so slim and lightweigh.

Cupertino is expected to make the new iPad more compact thanks to a narrower bezel. The new touch panels that will be key to achieving this will be manufactured by TPK and GIS. The retina display itself is manufactured by LG Display, Samsung Display and Sharp.

An interesting whisper on the grapevine mentions that there has been internal debate in Apple on whether the company should bring Retina displays on the iPad mini as that would allegedly eat into regular iPadsales.
