The HTC One S Android 4.2 update, an update that would likely bring Sense 5 as well, has been given slim odds for arrival by a well-known HTC leakster who claims that there is a 95% chance that it will be cancelled.
In February, HTC confirmed Sense 5 updates for a number of devices including the HTC One X, HTC One X+, HTC Butterfly, and the HTC One S. And while the One X, One X+ and HTC Butterfly have all received positive news, the HTC One S has been mired in bad news with unofficial and official information suggesting that the Sense 5 update is in doubt.

Sense 5 is thought to be coming on board Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates for these devices. And while the HTC One S Sense 5 seemed to be in jeopardy, we hadn’t heard much in regards to the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. That is until today, when notorious HTC developer and leaker @LLabTooFeR claimed that the update is unlikely to roll out, mirroring the language of the head of HTC Russia.
According to him, the update has a 95% chance of being cancelled. This of course leaves open the possibility of an Android 4.2 update for the HTC One S but the odds are indeed slim.
HTC, while confirming Sense 5, still hasn’t confirmed Android 4.2 for the HTC One S. What we have heard though, straight from HTC, is that the HTC One S Sense 5 update is having technical issues which is something that could be problematic for the Android 4.2 update as well.
In any event, it’s not looking good for HTC One S owners who are hoping for Android 4.2 or Sense 5. Given the issues that surfaced after the Android 4.1 update, owners may not be surprised by the developments. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, for the T-Mobile HTC One in particular, caused severe lag issues for owners of the mid-range device, issues that may be at least part of the reason why HTC appears to be leaning toward cancelling new software for the One S
