Smartphones with 4GB of RAM

Korea-based SK Hynix is in the midst of sampling 20nm 8Gb (1GB) chips that can be stacked to provide up to 4GB of RAM in high-end mobile devices. What’s more this memory is also faster than what’s currently selling, achieving data transmission speeds of 2,133Mbps — in comparison, the Galaxy S4 uses LPDDR3 with 1,600Mbps. A thinner profile and less power consumption in standby mode compared to LPDDR2 also come included.Smartphones with 4GB of RAM coming by the end of this year?
Yup, we want to see the first 4GB smartphone or tablet as soon as possible. If this module was developed by Samsung I would have no doubts it would come included with the Galaxy Note III. However, since it’s made by another company, we’ll have to wait for some other handset maker to jump on this. Perhaps HTC has what it takes to launch the first mobile device with 4GB of RAM. Or perhaps that will be Google, which will add more RAM to its next Nexus device to deliver the smooth Key Lime Pie experience. Waiting and seeing is pretty much the only things we can do at this point. ;(
