Since the low-end Lumia 520 is currently the most popular Windows Phone 8 device in the world, it seems only logical for Nokia to continue focusing on that particular sector of the smartphone market. On that note, meet the Lumia 625, previously known as “Max”.
This fellow will most certainly sport a 4.7-inch display, which will make it the biggest Nokia phone to date. “Big” doesn’t necessarily equate “high-end” though, and so the Lumia 625 will target users on a tight budget that want plenty of screen real estate but not much else.
Among the underwhelming specs of this upcoming Nokia phone, the 512 MB of RAM and 800 x 480 pixels resolution of the large panel are particularly painful. But hey, it might all be worth it, since rumor has it the handheld could cost as less as $300 and no more than $350.
Meanwhile, the dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 2,000 mAh battery are not so terrible (sub-par, but not terrible), plus the Lumia 625 is said to sport 4G LTE speeds, as well as have that much awaited GDR2 Windows Phone 8 update pre-installed.
At this time, there’s no official word on an ETA for the Nokia gadget, but seeing as China’s Tenaa has given it the green light, it shouldn’t be long until seeing it up on store shelves around those parts.
The Lumia 625 is believed to have gotten FCC’s stamp of approval of late as well, under the RM-941 and RM-942 model numbers, meaning a European launch, plus a debut on American carriers like AT&T or T-Mobile could be in the cards for the next few weeks. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you in the loop.
