Facebook held their mysterious media event today and the rumours were correct. Instagram has expanded past simply photos and entered into the realm of sharing videos. Instagram currently has over 130 million active monthly members and 16 billion photos have been shared.
Video on Instagram has officially been announced, passing Twitter’s popular Vine video-sharing feature and allowing 15-seconds videos. In addition, there’s 13 new custom filters specifically for videos. Beyond the video sharing aspect, Instagram announced a new Cinema feature that brings stabilization to your videos.
Video on Instagram is available today via the web, iPhone and Android. The Cinema feature is currently only available for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
Kevin Systrom, Co-founder, Instagram stated this update is “everything we know and love about Instagram, but it moves.”
