Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus & ATIV Book 9 Lite Arrive

In addition to refreshing its Windows tablet offerings, Samsung has announced two new laptops.
According to the company’s press release this afternoon, the new ATIV Book 9 Plus, and the ATIV Book 9 Lite will extend “the mobile experience across mobile phone and PC environments for a seamless work and life balance”. It’ll do this by including its HomeSync and SideSync technologies that will allow users to send things between their Samsung ATIV PCs and their Samsung powered mobile devices.

The PCs themselves run the gamut of all the form factors that seem to be catching on with consumers. The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus, is by all indications the next iteration of the company’s popular Samsung Series 9 laptop that it’s produced for some time. The company says that it took 33,000 hours to create the design of the aluminum uni-body system.
Unlike its predecessors the ATIV Book 9 Plus will feature a QHD+ 13.3” inch touchscreen display with a 3200 X 1800. Internals will include an Intel Core i5/i7 processor with Intel HD 4400 graphics, a max range of 8GB of storage and a 256GB SSD. The company says that it’ll only be available in Ash Black and get 12 hours of battery life. Connectivity will include, 2 USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI out, mini VGA and an SD cart slot.

The ATIV Book 9 Lite, will feature a quad-core processor, with 4GB of RAM, up to a 256GB SSD and 8.5 hours of battery. As this device is aimed squarely at being more affordable, the company will tone down the raw specifications of the ATIV Book 9 Plus in favor of a 13.3” display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and only make the touch screen an option. The Book 9 Lite will ship with just one USB 3.0 port and 1 USB 2.0 port. It’ll also include a micro HDMI port, mini VGA port, and a 3-in-1 media card reader.
Samsung hasn’t indicated when either of these machines will be made available to consumers or for what pricing just yet.
