Low cost iPhone may not be as cheap as everyone thinks, says Pegatron CEO
We have been hearing a lot rumors lately about a cheaper iPhone. The Taiwanese manufacturer – Pegatron – mentions that the so-called budget iPhone may not be a cheap offering from Apple.
At the company’s shareholders meeting on Thursday, the CEO of Pegtron, T.H. Tung made some interesting comments about the low-cost iPhone. He said that consumers should not expect the handset to be inexpensive, being an Apple product. T.H Tung mentioned that there are a lot of smartphonesavailable in the market but “cheap” is not the word he would give to the upcoming iPhone.
Earlier, we reported that Pegatron is one of the manufacturers who is assigned to produce the components of the low-cost iPhone. In the report, it was mentioned that the company increased its work force by almost 40% that may that hint towards the launch of the so-called budget iPhone. Rumors have it that the manufacturer will start the shipments of lower cost iPhone from August which suggests that the smartphone will be launched by the end of this year.
What do you guys think about the low-cost iPhone? If they manage to produce a device with decent specifications, there is a high probability that the device will become popular even if it’s a mid range phone.
